Grades 6 and 7
Intro Art -- Explore Art
Intro Art - Explore Art introduces art fundamentals using drawing and painting media. Projects focus on art elements (line, form, color, value, texture, shape, space) and art principles (balance, variety, harmony, emphasis, rhythm) using Fine Arts Common Core content standards. Media includes graphite, ink, and tempera. This is a semester course for Grades 6 and 7. This course is repeatable with teacher approval.![]() |

Grades 7 and 8
Basic Art
Basic Art introduces art fundamentals by using classic literature as subject matter. Projects incorporate a variety of media (graphite, ink, watercolor, pastels, tempera) to respond to class readings. This year we will read Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and a poetry such as William Blake's Tyger, Tyger. Projects focus on art elements (line, form, color, value, texture, shape, space) and art principles (balance, variety, harmony, emphasis, rhythm) using Fine Arts Common Core content standards. This is a semester course for Grades 7 and 8. Repeatable with teacher approval. 
Grades 7 and 8
Intro Art/Design -- Explore Art II
Intro Art/Design -- Explore Art II is an advanced course in art fundamentals using drawing and painting media. Projects focus on understanding and appreciation of self and others via art history, culture, and heritage while integrating art elements (line, form, color, value, texture, shape, space) art principles, (balance, variety, harmony, emphasis, rhythm) and Fine Arts Common Core content standards. Media includes graphite, ink, and tempera. This is a semester course for Grades 7 and 8. Repeatable with teacher approval. ![]() |
